Practice Philosophy:
Working in the fast-paced, high acuity Emergency Department is incredibly rewarding professionally. My passion is to deliver evidence-based, equitable, timely therapeutic interventions to every patient, regardless of circumstance. My teaching style is a mixture of hands-on direct patient care with in-depth topic discussions rooted in primary literature. I strive to train future clinicians who are socially aware, independent thinkers who feel empowered to challenge the status quo. It is my goal to create a safe and supportive learning environment for learners from any and every background. I facilitate direct, open, and honest conversations about stigma, bias, racism, and disparities in my topic discussions and direct patient care activities with learners, when appropriate. It is my philosophy that the best patient care encompasses the entire person, including social, economic, and public health. The Emergency Department serves as a connection between the hospital and the surrounding community, making it a perfect place to care for each person in their entirety.
