Philosophy of Care
Dr. Butani believes in empowering children and their families in directing and guiding their own care to the extent they desire. He practices using a collaborative model centered on shared decision making, ensuring that kids and their families recognize that they are always the most important part of the care team.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Butani is a pediatric nephrologist caring for children with the entire spectrum of kidney diseases, such as high blood pressure, kidney stones, prenatally diagnoses renal anomalies, kidney infections, and acute and chronic kidney diseases. He has special interest in caring for children who have received kidney transplants.
Research/Academic Interests
Dr Butani's research interests center around addressing strategies to improve outcomes after renal transplantation in children. He is also active in scholarship related to medical education, with an emphasis on reflective practice, humanism and professional values.
