Training Facilities
Our residency program is grounded in an integrated health care model. Residents train across multiple clinical sites throughout the five-year program, gaining broad and diverse clinical experience.
UC Davis Health
UC Davis Health has experienced significant growth and expansion over the past decade. This transformation includes the integration of multiple primary care practice groups, strengthening our comprehensive, coordinated care network.
The health system includes 653 licensed beds, and the UC Davis Medical Center is the only academic medical center and Level I trauma center serving California’s northern Central Valley. We provide care to 33 counties across a 65,000-square-mile region extending north to the Oregon border and east to Nevada.
Recognized as one of the “Most Wired” hospitals in the nation, UC Davis Medical Center is ranked Sacramento’s #1 hospital by U.S. News & World Report and is nationally ranked in multiple medical specialties.
UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center houses all oncologic specialties, including radiation oncology. It is located on the UC Davis Health campus within walking distance of UC Davis Medical Center. A complex of three research buildings houses laboratory facilities for faculty and research staff.

Shriners Children’s Northern California
Adjacent to the UC Davis Medical Center is Shriners Children's Northern California. This hospital is the largest pediatric referral center for both pediatric burn patients and patients with severe orthopedic and spinal cord deformities. Urologic surgery residents rotate through the Shriners Children's hospital while on the pediatric urology service.
Kaiser Permanente
Kaiser Permanente has three major medical centers and multiple satellite clinics in the Sacramento area. Residents rotate through Kaiser Permanente’s North and Roseville hospitals during their urologic training. These hospitals provide residents with exposure to patients with all types of urologic conditions. Hospitals are located within a 20-minute driving radius from UC Davis Health. Clinical faculty at Kaiser Permanente are active in our residency training program.
VA Northern California Health Care System
The VA Northern California Health Care System rotation provides residents with exposure to a broad spectrum of urologic pathology in a structured, closely supervised setting. This experience emphasizes hands-on clinical decision-making, procedural skill development and comprehensive patient assessment.
Clinical exposure includes general urology, urologic oncology, erectile dysfunction, kidney stone disease, robotic-assisted surgery and neurourology. Since outpatient clinics are located adjacent to inpatient wards and operating rooms, residents participate in every phase of care. This includes preoperative evaluation, intraoperative management and postoperative follow-up.
