Perinatal Orientation and Simulation Series, Day 3

Day 3 of POEP builds on core perinatal skills with a focus on emergency response, clinical decision-making, and interpretation of fetal monitoring. Participants will review critical steps and communication strategies for managing precipitous deliveries and shoulder dystocia, including proper maneuvers and documentation.

The session also covers the emergency Cesarean (Code C) workflow, from rapid OR transport to surgical prep. A case-based strip review guides learners in managing Category II fetal heart rate tracings and determining appropriate interventions. The day concludes with a hands-on NCC fetal monitoring game to reinforce identification of baselines, accelerations, decelerations, and contraction patterns. Interactive learning and scenario-based practice prepare attendees for real-time obstetrical challenges.
