In a celebratory moment for UC Davis Health’s commitment to equity and inclusion, the PRIDE Employee Resource Group has officially surpassed 900 members, becoming the first ERG in institutional history to reach this milestone.

This incredible growth reflects a larger story unfolding across the organization: all eight Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) at UC Davis Health have seen rising memberships and deeper engagements over the past year – a sign of the growing momentum behind our Principles of Community.

Formed to uplift and support LGBTQ+ employees, allies, and community members, the PRIDE ERG has become a cornerstone of our organization's visibility, advocacy, and culture-building. From leading bold campus-wide events to creating affirming spaces for dialogue and mentorship, the group exemplifies what it means to lead purposefully.

“This milestone isn’t just about numbers – it’s about connection,” said Matthew St. Amant, Culture and Community Program Manager for the Office for Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, which houses the Employee Resource Group program. “It shows how powerful it is when people feel seen, heard, and supported.”

At the helm of PRIDE’s growth are PRIDE ERG Chair Evan Priestley and Vice Chair Christopher Long, whose leadership and dedication, along with the entire PRIDE Board, have been instrumental in building an ERG that continues to grow in both reach and impact.

As we prepare for Sacramento Pride, this year’s march may look different, with longtime collaborators, such as the marching band, unavailable. Yet UC Davis and UC Davis Health remain committed to showing up boldly and proudly. The planning team is working with performers of color and cultural artists to reflect the rich diversity of our community, ensuring the message is loud and clear: We All Belong.

“Allyship isn’t just for Pride Month or a single parade or march – it’s a year-round commitment,” said St. Amant. “Whether you’re a member of the LGBTQ+ community or an ally, your participation in ERGs, conversations, and actions helps build a stronger, more inclusive workplace.”

With all eight ERGs thriving, now is the perfect time for staff, students, and faculty to engage. Whether you’re looking to connect with others who share your lived experience or show up as an ally in solidarity – there is a place for you here.

Together, through every step, celebration, and courageous conversation, we reaffirm our shared values. With more than 900 members, the PRIDE ERG isn’t just making history – it’s shaping our future.
