(SACRAMENTO)

On Sunday, June 15, downtown Sacramento came alive with color, joy, and purpose as hundreds of UC Davis and UC Davis Health team members—joined by their families, friends, allies, and even a few four-legged companions—marched proudly in the 2025 Sacramento Pride March. The event, held in partnership with the Sacramento LGBT Community Center, began at Southside Park and culminated at the steps of the State Capitol, where participants gathered for a powerful group photo before entering the festival grounds.

This year’s theme, “We All Belong,” resonated deeply as marchers donned custom T-shirts and waved affirming banners and flags in a vibrant display of inclusion and solidarity. Organized annually by the Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG), this year’s UC Davis contingent was one of the largest ever, with more than 1,100 registered participants representing departments across the university and health system.

Interim Vice Chancellor of Human Health Sciences and Chief Clinical Officer, Bruce Hall, M.D., carries the Pride ERG flag in the Sacramento March.

The Cal Marching Band brought infectious energy to the route, stepping in for the Aggie Marching Band, which was supporting commencement ceremonies. Their music, paired with the spirited cheerleaders from Inderkum High School, created an atmosphere of celebration that echoed through the streets.

The Pride Festival, held throughout the weekend at Capitol Mall, drew thousands of attendees. Volunteers from the PRIDE ERG staffed an outreach booth, distributing swag and sharing educational resources on LGBTQ+ history and health equity.

Beyond the festivities, the event was a moment to reflect on the ongoing impact of the Pride ERG. From the Pronoun Sticker Project to educational programming and scholarship support for LGBTQ+ staff and students, the group continues to lead with purpose and pride.

As the sun set on another unforgettable Pride weekend, one message rang clear: UC Davis and UC Davis Health remain unwavering in their commitment to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and celebration—for everyone.
