Preparing for traffic impacts as state workers return to office July 1

(SACRAMENTO)

Earlier this year, California Governor Gavin Newsom ordered a return to the office for state workers, which will take effect July 1.

With the potential for thousands of additional vehicles on the freeway, coupled with several area roadways under construction, UC Davis Health employees should prepare for longer commute times.

As a reminder, UC Davis Health’s Green Commuter Program provides several alternative transportation options. If you’ve been curious about trying a new commute method, this summer might be a good time.

For bicyclists, the Green Commuter Program offers several bike shelters around campus. Simply register your bicycle or scooter to gain access.

UC Davis Medical Center is conveniently located near four bus routes and the Gold Line Light Rail. In addition to free bus services like the Causeway Connection and Elk Grove Express, employees and students at UC Davis Health may be eligible for up to $100 in monthly subsidies on transit passes. Learn more about regional transit.

If you are interested in joining a carpool, but do not know of anyone making your commute, the Green Commuter Program can help! When you complete the Carpool Interest Form, they will contact team members in your neighborhood to see if your work schedules align.
