Philosophy of Care
In a time of ever-increasing use of technology in healthcare, infectious diseases requires more than diagnostic testing and procedures. The practice of Infectious Diseases requires detailed discussions with patients and time spent understanding the course of their disease processes.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Maniar’s clinical work includes the spectrum of infectious diseases from HIV and hepatitis C to infections in travelers, hospital-acquired and prosthetic joint infections. She also is a hospital epidemiologist and specializes infection prevention. She sees patients in the ambulatory care and inpatient settings.
Research/Academic Interests
Dr. Maniar is the Health System Epidemiologist of VA Northern California Healthcare System addressing acute care, long-term care and ambulatory care infection prevention systems. She is heavily involved in health system-wide planning for high consequence infections and pandemic response. She participates in the antimicrobial stewardship program to encourage the appropriate use of anti-infective agents to improve clinical outcomes and reduce toxicity.
