Philosophy of Care

My phylosophy of care is that I work together with my patients to achieve a desired goal. I think that communication and very respectful and compassionate interaction are crucial to medical practice. The field of medicine and hepatology are rapidly evolving and I strive to provide the most updated information and care to my patients. At the end of the day, I want my patients to be very satisfied and comfortable with the care they received in our clinics and I apply my best knowledge, experience, and judgment to each situation I encounter.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Medici specializes in the care of liver diseases, with particular focus on metabolic diseases. In particular, she has special clinical and research interest in Wilson disease. She also follows patients with fatty liver, alcohol-associated liver disease, post liver transplant patients, and patients with nutrition problems.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Medici has devoted her research career to the study of Wilson disease and particulary to the epigenetic changes that can affect the clinical manifestations of this rare disease. She also conducts research in liver metabolism and lipid profiles in patients from different ethnic backgrounds. Her research spans human, translational, and basic science studies in animal models. The ultimate goal of her research is the understanding of the pathophysiology of liver diseases to improve their diagnosis and treatment.
