Dr. Nguyen is an academic infectious diseases physician who cares for adults with diverse infectious diseases. He further specializes in mycobacterial infections, particularly nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease and tuberculosis (TB). He completed advanced training in both clinical care and research of NTM disease at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Nguyen’s research focuses on clinical, epidemiological, and translational investigations of nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease with the overarching goal to improve its diagnosis and treatment. Some of his past and current studies include investigating an NTM outbreak, the epidemiology of NTM pulmonary disease in immigrant populations, in vitro susceptibility of NTM to current and novel antimycobacterials, and host-directed therapies for NTM disease.
