Philosophy of Care

My overall goal is to deliver compassionate care to patients with liver disease. There is a misconception that many liver diseases, including alcohol-related liver disease, are self-inflicted conditions. I try to ensure patients get fair, unbiased, expert care of their liver diseases to promote long-term health.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Rachakonda is hepatologist and gastroenterologist providing care for adults with all liver diseases. He is a board-certified in transplant hepatology; he has a special clinical interest in alcohol related liver disease and liver transplantation. Dr. Rachakonda sees patients at the Northern California VA Medical Center in Mather, California. His practice at UC Davis is limited to outpatient endoscopy and inpatient hepatology consultation.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Rachakonda's research focuses on improving the care of patients with alcohol-related liver diseases through studies of interleukin-6 signaling as a driver of hepatocellular dysfunction. He also has an interest in access to care for patients with alcohol-related liver disease.
