Philosophy of Care

I strive to provide thoughtful, compassionate, and evidence-based care while making sure my patients understand their medical conditions and are actively involved in decisions about their health. My goal is to build trust with each patient and work together toward a plan of care that reflects their individual needs, values, and goals.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Rivera practices comprehensive hospital medicine, caring for adults with a broad range of acute and complex medical conditions. He has particular clinical interests in point-of-care ultrasound and the management of medically complex hospitalized patients. He is also passionate about medical education and enjoys teaching and mentoring residents and medical students.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Rivera's academic interests focus on medical education and improving the clinical care of hospitalized patients. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring medical students and residents and fostering the development of practical, evidence-based clinical skills.
