Asthma bootcamp will educate patients on treatment plans, inhalers and more

The UC Davis Asthma Network (UCAN™) is hosting a bootcamp to educate patients on strategies to control their asthma and recognize the contributions of non-paid caregivers. These include parents, siblings, spouses and best friends focused on the health care and safety of patients young and old.

The bootcamp is a free event for asthma patients 12 years and older and their parents or caregivers.  Attendees will learn about asthma control and treatment plans and receive inhaler training.

UCAN™ Bootcamp instructors include:

• Sara Abu-Nasser, assistant clinical professor of pediatric pulmonology
• Samuel Louie, professor emeritus of Internal Medicine and past director of UCAN™
• Anh P. Nguyen, health sciences assistant clinical professor of pediatric allergy
• Celeste C. Payne, prior authorization specialist
• Registered respiratory therapists and nurses from UC Davis Health

UCAN™ was founded in 1996 and has become a nationally recognized clinic for its excellence in integrated patient care and patient safety outcomes.

The UCAN™ Clinic includes dedicated asthma experts who exemplify the mission of the university: patient care, education and research. The team addresses the health care disparities and unmet needs in asthma patient education and patient safety for Northern California.

The UCAN™ Bootcamp will be held at the UC Davis Health Education Building on March 2. A light breakfast, lunch and parking will be provided.
