Two pediatric specialists receive Eli Gold Prize

Elizabeth Partridge, assistant clinical professor of pediatrics and pediatric infectious disease physician, and Rory Kamerman-Kretzmer, assistant clinical professor of pediatrics and pediatric pulmonologist, have received the 2022 Eli Gold Prize this month. They were recognized for their clinical excellence.

Partridge was nominated by Dean Blumberg, chief of pediatric infectious diseases. Kamerman-Kretzmer was nominated by Kiran Nandalike, chief of pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine.

Partridge is the medical director of infection prevention at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Her clinical research interests include hospital epidemiology and infection prevention as well as the prevention and management of congenital syphilis.

Kamerman-Kretzmer provides care for children with respiratory conditions or disorders of the lungs and breathing with a passion for caring for children who need long-term (home) mechanical ventilation. He has participated in research teams studying long-term ventilation, telehealth, asthma and rare breathing and lung disorders.  

The prize was named for Eli Gold, former professor and chair of the UC Davis Department of Pediatrics, who supported and encouraged many young aspiring pediatricians. It is an annual award of $3,000 that goes toward research or further career development.

The award is open to any junior faculty member in the department who has achieved prominence in clinical, teaching, research and/or community service. The criteria for identifying the award recipient includes innovation, impact on child health, and impact on UC Davis Children’s Hospital, the Department of Pediatrics and the UC Davis School of Medicine. The award winner is invited to give a lecture on a topic of his or her choice at a Pediatric Grand Rounds.

Partridge and Kamerman-Kretzmer will give lectures at a Pediatric Grand Rounds in fall/winter of 2023.
