DAISY Award
Congratulations to Kristina Serikov
Kristina Serikov, R.N., BSN
Davis 11 Trauma Nursing Unit
Mr. Lubarski,
I am sorry for writing you directly but I experienced treatment today from your staff that truly went miles above. Don’t get me wrong, all of the nurse’s that I dealt with are exceptional but one was just part or better yet, the leader in the new patient experience that UCD is adopting.
Not only did this young lady follow every possible guideline, but she actually began anticipating needs that I wasn’t even aware that I had. Even better, she passed those needs on to every single nurse that followed her. In doing so, she created an environment in which all of the nurses that dealt with me were a long way ahead of the curve.
I know that you are overly busy so I won’t run on and on about her but I’d be more than happy to chat with you about the specific things that created her a 100% on my scoring system (out of 16 surgeries no one has even reached even a 95%). Even UCD only reaches a 95% 2 years ago at me last surgery/visit.
I’m on the Neuro floor in Critical Care if you would like to chat with me about what made this comparable to even the best hotels. Otherwise. I’d be more than happy to discuss this with you on the phone.
I know that her first name is Kristina and I’m pretty sure that her last name is Sercoff (or close to that). She was my day nurse the first 2 days after the surgery. Again, despite having been through 16 surgeries and at least 50-75 nurses, I never thought any nurse could care so much. If UCD has a program that is similar to Sutter’s “nominate an exceptional team” I would not only nominate Kristina but I would fight for her to win that!!!
About the DAISY Award
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recognizes outstanding members of the nursing community and the very special work they do every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of the extraordinary nursing J. Patrick Barnes received when he was hospitalized. (DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.) This nursing recognition award program offers patients, families, and professional colleagues a way to honor nurses for all they do. The DAISY awardees consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care.
