Congratulations to Mary Heatlie

Mary Heatlie, BSN, CWON

Home Health and Hospice

Mary truly exemplifies a compassionate, knowledgeable, and dependable nurse. I had surgery on January 9th and now have an ileostomy. During the hospital, I felt confident caring for my ileostomy but decided to still sign up for home health in case I needed further support. Once I got home, my ileostomy care became more   difficult. It has been a constant struggle to find a good product for me and it has become more and more discouraging. However, when I got assigned Mary, I was very thankful. Mary has gone above and beyond to make sure I have different product options in order to find the ones that work for me. She checks on me every day to make sure that things are still working or  if I need any extra support. There have been many times that I just want to give up but Mary continues to give me hope. Because of Mary, I now feel confident to take over my own care and no longer feel hopeless. She has lots of patience and truly cares about her patients. I have had a lot of medical care this past year, but Mary by far has been the best nurse I've encountered.

About the DAISY Award

The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses recognizes outstanding members of the nursing community and the very special work they do every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of the extraordinary nursing J. Patrick Barnes received when he was hospitalized. (DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.) This nursing recognition award program offers patients, families, and professional colleagues a way to honor nurses for all they do. The DAISY awardees consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care.
