Our Path Forward

For more than a year, the Office of Strategy and Growth worked to develop the Clinical Strategic Plan, UC Davis Health’s five-year roadmap. With input from staff work groups and in-depth surveys, the organization has created a framework for the health system’s future.

Four pillars

Four Strategic Pillars

The plan consists of Strategic Pillars – goals – that will improve health care delivery for patients throughout Northern California. These areas of emphasis include:

  • Developing a regional system of care – reaching more patients in more places.
  • Delivering an exceptional patient and care team experience – investing in patients and employees and establishing cultural norms of trust, kindness and inclusion.
  • Advancing health equity and addressing disparities – strengthening UC Davis Health’s role as an Anchor Institution and providing culturally competent care.
  • Developing and growing integrated, patient-centric service lines – expanding distinctive clinical programs and partnerships.

These goals will be supported by new digital health programs, investments in the future of medicine, integrated research and innovations, and enterprise-wide operational excellence. In doing so, the system will be better positioned to connect with and serve more patients across a larger geographic area, while continuing to provide next-level health services to all who seek care at UC Davis Health.

In executing the Strategic Pillars set forth by the plan, UC Davis Health will launch key initiatives in each area to provide a seamless, integrated experience for patients, students, faculty and staff.
