Welcome to the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center
I am delighted to welcome you to the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, a cancer center designated by the National Cancer Institute.
We recognize that “comprehensive” can have a lot of different meanings, even among cancer centers. Our UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center has a very specific meaning that distinguishes us from every other cancer center in the greater Sacramento region.
Like the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, “comprehensive designation” certifies that our research, clinical, education and outreach programs have met the stringent criteria set forth by the National Cancer Institute, one of the National Institutes of Health and a world’s leader in cancer research training and funding.
The National Cancer Institute’s decision in February 2012 to make us the 41st comprehensive cancer center in the United States put us in good company, as we joined ranks with MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Johns Hopkins, to name a few.
It means that patients at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center are treated by a team practicing state-of-the-art, personalized cancer care provided against the backdrop of more than $100 million of peer-reviewed cancer research annually. It means that our patients have access to more than 200 clinical trials, many of which have grown out of the research done by our own physicians. It means that treatments available to our patients today will one day be the standard of care at all cancer centers.
The National Cancer Institute’s decision in February 2012 to make us the 41st comprehensive cancer center in the United States put us in good company, as we joined ranks with MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Johns Hopkins, to name a few.
We look forward to continuing to provide leading-edge cancer care, research, education and outreach so that our patients have the best possible outcome. Together, we will break barriers to beat cancer.
