The Data Center of Excellence provides clinicians, faculty, and staff the ability to leverage the data-rich electronic health records at UC Davis Health. We integrate clinical, financial, and operational data to provide timely information that adds knowledge and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency and patient care. From raw EMR data sources to highly curated and validated datasets, our data assets go beyond making decisions about patients at the time of care to enabling deeper analyses of patient populations.

News
New “Derived Vital Status” Data Asset
Would it surprise you to know that thousands of our patients currently listed as alive in the electronic health record (EHR) are in fact deceased? Well, this is exactly what was found after developing an innovative informatics solution to integrate EDRS and EHR data to achieve a more accurate representation of the vital status of our patients. The result is a new “derived vital status” data asset that uses complex matching rules to overcome previous barriers to using EDRS data and includes an final step to correct accidental matches.
