UC Davis Health recognized for exceptional care, company culture

(SACRAMENTO)

UC Davis Health has earned two new national honors that reflect the strength of its values and the impact of its people on both sides of care delivery.

A culture employees shape and strengthen

Culture doesn’t happen by chance; it’s something we build together, over time. That’s the principle behind Forbes’ new ranking of America’s Best Employers for Company Culture, which evaluates how fairly organizations treat their people, how well they communicate, and how they cultivate purpose, trust and opportunity.

UC Davis Health ranked #25 nationally in the Forbes’ listing, ahead of organizations like Harvard University and John Hopkins. This reflects the commitment we’ve made not just to talking about culture, but to shaping it through interconnected systems that work, including:

  • The Employee Experience Survey: A systemwide tool that gives employees a voice and helps leaders identify areas for growth. Responses have driven tangible improvements in hiring, onboarding, team development and leadership engagement.
  • “You Said, Together We Did”: A campaign highlighting dozens of workplace improvements made in direct response to employee feedback, from new mentoring programs to simplified parking options for new hires.
  • Career Development Week: This Nov. 17-21 conference hosted by Learning and Organizational Development empowers UC Davis and UC Davis Health staff to take ownership of their careers. With sessions on skill-building, professional growth and inclusive leadership, the event reaches hundreds of employees each year.

A trusted hospital, close to home

At the same time, UC Davis Medical Center has been recognized as one of Newsweek’s Best-in-State Hospitals for 2026, a designation based on patient experience, care quality and reputation among health care professionals.

This honor adds to a growing list of recognitions that speak to UC Davis Health’s excellence in care delivery. Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked UC Davis among the nation’s top 50 hospitals in six adult specialties and once again named it the No. 1 hospital in the Sacramento area.

From its Magnet® nursing designation to nationally ranked schools of medicine and nursing, UC Davis Health continues to lead in advancing the science and delivery of care.

Protecting patients and one another

  • Submit a declination form via the QYK system (available Oct. 1) and wear a medical-grade mask throughout flu season.

Walk-in flu shots are now available at two locations:

  • NAOB, Room 1001: Oct. 20–31, Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
