Philosophy of Care

Dr. Munir strongly believes in shared decision making with the patients with respect to their management and strives to implement evidence-based approaches towards their disease states. Dr. Munir's philosophy is to know his patients in detail so he can guide them to the best possible individualized treatment. Dr. Munir is skilled in catheter ablation of all types of supra-ventricular arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation as well as ventricular tachycardia. Additionally, he also has a special interest in implantation of cardiac implantable devices such as pacemakers with a special focus on conduction system (left bundle area) pacing, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices. Dr. Munir is also skillful in the implantation of left atrial appendage occlusion devices such as Watchman and laser leads extractions.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Munir is a cardiac electrophysiologist who is trained in the management of cardiac rhythm disorders. He has a special clinical interest in device implantations, device extractions and ablation procedures.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Munir is heavily focused on outcomes research in the areas of left atrial appendage occlusion, sudden cardiac arrest and cardiac implantable electronic devices. He has published more than 130 peer reviewed papers and has presented his work at the annual sessions of Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and European Society of Cardiology. His work has been featured in leading cardiology journals such as Heart Rhythm, Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology, Journal of American Heart Association, JAMA Cardiology, Europace, American Heart Journal, JACC EP, Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology among others.
