UC Davis Health & Sacramento Community

The landscape of rheumatology treatment has changed drastically for the better in the last few years. Coupled with new cutting-edge diagnostic techniques, it is now possible to customize, optimize, and personalize your rheumatology treatment. Here at UC Davis, our skilled specialists will take extra time to put you on the correct path to manage your health care needs.

High Standards

When you engage with a UC Davis rheumatologist you benefit from the world-class expertise, dedication and accomplishments of our medical leadership team. Our practitioners, researchers and educators are actively changing the way rheumatology health care is delivered and experienced by our patients and clients. We lead a dedicated team to ensure that UC Davis's high standards are upheld and embedded in every medical resource and every educational tool. We have a passionate and committed staff that will treat you with the most  up-to-date care available.

Our physicians provide consultations for physicians throughout California regarding the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of rheumatic disorders and autoimmune diseases. We also see patients who come from as far away as Europe, Japan and South America.

The division features special-emphasis panels in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus. In addition, we offer a clinical program to address allergies, including special treatments for food allergies and food hypersensitivity. State-of-the-art therapy for patients with serious and chronic asthma includes a self-care component involving environmental education, food, nutrition and pharmacotherapy. One clinic is dedicated to evaluation, therapy and rehabilitation of the unique problems faced by musicians such as overuse syndromes and tendonitis.

Thank you for your interest in UC Davis. I hope this website gives you a sense of what makes our fellows - and our program - so special. To tell you more about who we are, I want to share our Mission Statement and our Program Aims. If this resonates with you, then please consider us, as we strive to achieve this every day.

To fulfill the educational component of its mission today, the Department of Internal Medicine trains the leading physicians of tomorrow for the Central Valley and beyond. We educate new doctors with the same passion and dedication that we bring to patient care and research. Internal-medicine faculty and staff produce the best physicians by teaching residents and fellows to communicate openly with patients, treat individuals as whole entities, and respect quality of life issues. Because the practice of medicine is constantly changing, we emphasize the importance of life-long learning and the willingness to be open to new ideas and to ask questions.
