Updated Admissions Policies due to COVID-19
Delayed MCAT Tests – The latest MCAT exam date UC Davis School of Medicine will accept is September 10, 2022. We will consider applications without a score or pending score from individuals who were unable to take the MCAT due to COVID-related test cancellations or forced rescheduling; however, submission of proof will be required. Applicants whose MCAT score is not yet available should not delay submitting their application. For these candidates, we will base secondary application decisions on the information that is available to us at the time of the application submission. Applicants must have taken the MCAT before we make admissions decisions for the 2023 incoming class.
Pass/Fail Grades – UC Davis School of Medicine will accept pass/fail grades, without prejudice, for courses taken during the COVID pandemic. While it has always been our practice to consider grades in the context of numerous other aspects of the application, the COVID-19 international health crisis provides a unique and compelling circumstance.
Online Courses – Many undergraduate schools have switched to an online curriculum during the pandemic. Although we prefer courses be taken in person, we will review online courses with no evaluation bias due to the pandemic.
Transfer Students – At this time, UC Davis School of Medicine is not accepting transfer medical students. Students whose medical education has been impacted by COVID-19 and as a result are unable to continue at their medical school elsewhere are required to apply as part of the general applicant pool for admission consideration.
