On May 2, 2025 leaders from UC Davis, Wexford Science & Technology and the city of Sacramento joined hundreds of guests from around the greater Sacramento region to celebrate the grand opening of Aggie Square. The event marked the culmination of eight years of planning and development.
Even before the grand opening, School of Medicine research was moving into this innovative new space. Developed around themes, the better to maximize collaboration and resources, the relocation plan for labs was thoughtfully crafted even as the complex was undergoing construction.
Aggie Square hosts a diverse group of occupants contributing to a multifaceted research landscape. Together they can advance innovation through collaboration, shared resources and a strong research Infrastructure.
Aggie Square hosts a variety of centers, programs and cores fostering innovation across numerous fields. Key centers, programs and cores include:
Flow cytometry utilizes laser technology to measure and sort cells. This capability is essential for researchers to identify cancer-related markers, monitor treatment responses, and conduct in-depth cellular analysis.
A CLIA-certified laboratory that provides scientific support for clinical and preclinical studies, including immunology-based assays for immunotherapy trials, and various molecular and cellular assays.
Provides essential services for the development and implementation of clinical trials, particularly focusing on pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) studies.
Tech Foundry is focused on development and manufacturing of mechanical or electro-mechanical devices, typically in support of biomedical research endeavors.
This core provides expertise, for consultation, training, access to equipment and technical services for comprehensive phenotyping of preclinical rodent models
The center is dedicated to improving health outcomes and services, and informing healthcare policy through interdisciplinary and collaborative research.
Conducts research into the prevention and management of acute illnesses and injuries in children and youth across the spectrum of emergency medicine and healthcare. Has been developing evidence-based guidelines to improve pediatric emergency care, concerning the appropriate use of diagnostic imaging like CT scans in children.
UC Davis has a robust and long-standing collaboration that includes research, education, and various support programs for veterans and military-affiliated individuals.
Precision medicine takes a personalized approach to research and clinical care that results in better health outcomes and targeted treatments. The Center for Precision Medicine and Data Sciences convenes diverse research teams to tackle today's healthcare challenges in data science, clinical care, nutrition and more.
The center is revolutionizing surgical procedures and brain monitoring through light-based, artificial intelligence-informed technologies.
