Assistant Clinical Professor
Associate Director of Vivaria and Veterinary Care Mouse Biology Program
Veterinarian Medicine
Pharmacology and Toxicology
Dr. Grimsrud strives to provide the highest quality of care to all animals used in research to minimize stress and discomfort to the animals and improve overall well being. Moreover, Dr. Grimsrud's clinical research aims to improve patient care and outcomes through advancing pharmacology research in understanding interpatient variability.
Clinical emphasis includes clinical care primarily for mouse and rats utilized in research including genetic modification, metabolic, surgery, vaccine and pharmacology studies. Additional interests in biosecurity and infectious disease in vivaria and laboratory animals, special populations pharmacology and translational medicine. Human clinical research focuses on studying special populations (e.g. pediatrics, burns) to improve understanding of anesthetic and analgesia medications to improve dosing regimes.
Research interests include pharmacology with an emphasis in pharmacogenetics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, physiological based pharmacokinetic models and variations in special populations. Additionally, Dr. Grimsrud's research focuses on development and optimization of translational animal models.
