Internal medicine physician Stephany Sanchez receives national award for advancing DEI efforts

Stephany Sanchez, associate clinical professor of Internal Medicine at UC Davis Health, is the recipient of a national award for her efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the health system.

The Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) recently honored Sanchez with its 2025 AAIM Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award. The award recognizes an individual or team that promotes and champions diversity, equity, and inclusion in their department of medicine.

The Alliance Awards Program highlights influential internal medicine faculty and staff at medical schools and teaching hospitals. The awards celebrate the local, regional and national contributions of members and leaders in education, research, administration and leadership.

Sanchez is an associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program and practices primary care at the Sacramento County Health Center. She recently received the UC Davis School of Medicine Dean’s Award for Excellence in Diversity. The award recognizes outstanding faculty contributions in the areas of research, education, clinical care and community engagement.

Sanchez will receive the award during AIMM’s Academic Internal Medicine Week 2025, held April 6-9 in New Orleans.
