    ARC-MD Application Process

Overview

The ARC-MD program is a five-year honors pathway designed for medical students who aspire to become physician-scientists and academic research faculty. It integrates clinical training with intensive research experiences, mentorship, and a supportive learning community.

Each year, the ARC-MD program accepts 6-8 students.

ARC-MD applicants apply through the traditional UC Davis School of Medicine (SOM) admissions pathway and must meet the same requirements as all SOM students. Applicants may apply to more than one program that meets their career goals. The ARC-MD program selects applicants for a second interview after the applicant has completed the SOM interview.

How to Apply

  1. Apply to the UC Davis School of Medicine (UCDSOM) through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) by October 1.
  2. Applicants invited to complete the UCDSOM Secondary Application will have an opportunity to indicate their interest in ARC-MD in the Secondary Application
  3. Applicants interviewed by the UCDSOM will then be reviewed by the ARC-MD Admissions Director. Applicants are reviewed on a rolling basis.
  4. Qualified applicants will be invited for an ARC-MD interview between November and April
  5. Admission to ARC-MD is contingent upon acceptance to the M.D. program.
