Preceptor Highlight! - David Katz, M.D.
For me, teaching in Rural-PRIME is the culmination of many years of teaching medical students in my family practice. More than any other teaching setting, Rural-PRIME allows me to share my day to day experience, acquired through working in migrant health centers and community clinics.
I truly enjoy working with the eager students who have elected to be in the Rural-PRIME Program. They are life-long learners who share my commitment to providing quality health care in a rural setting.
Through the UCD Medical School, Rural-PRIME has provided a setting which allows me to pass on many of the pearls of medical wisdom and skills, which I've been fortunate to acquire, to the next generation of young physicians. The students ask great questions and challenge me to explain the care that I provide to my patients. I believe that they gain direct experience in real-life health care delivery through the precepting offered in the Rural-PRIME program.

Preceptor Highlight! - Bruce Greenberg, M.D.
Dr. Bruce Greenberg: Dr. Greenberg was raised in the Bay Area in a working-class family. He was the first person in his family to attend college and received a degree in psychology from UC Berkeley. He attended UC Davis Medical School, completed his family practice residency at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas and joined a group practice in King City. He has been working in King City for the past 30 years.
"I wanted to partner with Rural-PRIME because I felt a strong commitment to help train and mentor the next generation of rural primary care physicians. When I heard about the Rural-PRIME program, after 30 years in rural practice, I said to myself, 'Rural-PRIME, that sounds like my whole career!' It was a natural fit. As a UC Davis grad, I also felt it was a special opportunity to give back to the school that had trained me for my career.”
