Cardiac Rehab team sets participation and fundraising records at Sacramento Heart & Stroke Walk

UC Davis Health’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program celebrated a record-breaking showing at the 2026 Sacramento Heart & Stroke Walk. More than 60 participants joined the team and raised more over $7,700, the highest participation and fundraising totals in the program's history.
The event brought together staff and patients, including many former Cardiac Rehab participants, fostering renewed connections and significantly boosting awareness, participation and fundraising efforts.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for our patients, families and staff to come together and celebrate the progress that participants have made on their heart health journeys,” said Patricia “Trish” Smith, team captain. “Seeing so many current and former Cardiac Rehab participants walking alongside us made this year's event especially meaningful. It is a privilege to be part of our patients’ recovery journeys, and we were honored to celebrate their accomplishments at this event.”
Team captain Kai Cha said the strong turnout highlights the lasting impact of the program and the connections patients build through their recovery.
“We were thrilled by the incredible support from our patients and the community,” said Cha. “Reaching these record numbers reflects the enthusiasm of our participants and the dedication of our staff to helping patients stay engaged in their health long after they complete rehabilitation.”
The Cardiac Rehab team thanked all participants, donors and volunteers who helped make this year's event the most successful in the program's history.
