Philosophy of Care

Dr. Capizzi is an advocate for patients with neurologic impairments and acquired brain injuries. She strives to maximize her patients' function, independence and quality of life. She takes a patient-centered approach to care with the goal of achieving the best outcome possible for each person.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Capizzi is a physiatrist (rehabilitation doctor) who specializes in brain injury medicine. She offers care for pediatric and adult patients with acquired brain injuries including traumatic brain injury, stroke, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE), cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis (MS), and brain tumors. She has special clinical interest and expertise in concussion management, spasticity management, and disorders of consciousness.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Capizzi's past research includes evaluating medication cost, gender equality in healthcare professions and using new technologies to improve patient care for those with neurologic disabilities. Additionally, her research interests include improving outcomes for patients with traumatic brain injury, innovations in spasticity and dystonia management, medical education and promoting diversity in healthcare.
