Director’s Fellowship

The Director’s Fellowship recognizes outstanding early-career investigators with the potential to lead cancer research at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. This fellowship provides scholars the opportunity to:

  • Serve as principal investigator of a research project for up to one year
  • Develop and manage research funds
  • Submit progress reports and present findings
  • Gain experience in proposal writing and oral presentation
  • Demonstrate the ability to secure independent research funding

Fellowship Benefits:

  • $1,500 for research materials and supplies
  • Opportunity to lead and manage a research project
  • Hands-on experience in grant writing and presentation skills
  • Mentors or other funding sources cover additional costs

Open to undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral UC Davis Affiliate Scholars.
(Three awards per year in the fields of Integrated Cancer Biology, Cancer Therapeutics, Biotechnology, and Population Sciences and Health Disparities.)

Applicants must:

  • Be an active Affiliate Scholar at the time of application
  • Submit a two-page proposal including:
    • Specific Aims
    • Background and Significance
    • Innovation
  • Provide a letter of support from their mentor(s)
  • Submit a mid-year progress report
  • Present findings at the Ralph de Vere White Symposium for Early Career Investigators in Cancer
