Started under the auspices of our Population Health Department, we have a team of dedicated nurses and case managers who care for patients with chronic kidney disease, providing education care coordination and helping reduce hospitalizations and ER visits. Our “PD first” Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) policy has gained traction system-wide. We are proud to partner with our Interventional Nephrology and Surgery colleagues to have timely PD catheter placements.

We welcome all patients, families, and friends interested in learning more about dialysis and kidney disease. The class is a supportive, casual, and informative atmosphere.
Dr. Shubha Ananthakrishnan and Maureen Craig, R.N., will conduct this class. There will be several presentations and opportunities to ask questions. You will also have a chance to hear from other patients on dialysis who often drop into the class as guest speakers.
We offer a monthly Kidney Class to patients who are facing the decision of advanced kidney disease options, such as dialysis, transplantation, conservative care, etc. We are pleased to work with our Health Management Education team (link to their page here) to provide outstanding educational services to our patients.

Interventional nephrology is a subspecialty of nephrology that focuses on performing procedures related to kidney diseases and dialysis access. Interventional nephrologists use ultrasound, catheters, and endovascular techniques to diagnose and treat various dialysis access issues. Our interventional nephrologists can provide tunneled dialysis and infusion catheter placements, dialysis fistula and graft angiograms and declots, as well as peritoneal dialysis catheter troubleshooting.

A dialysis access surgeon is a surgeon who specializes in creating and maintaining vascular access for hemodialysis patients as well as peritoneal catheters for peritoneal dialysis patients. Our surgeons work closely with our nephrologists to ensure excellent individualized care is provided for our patients who are either preparing or presently on dialysis.

At the Glomerular Diseases Clinic, we offer cutting edge, state of the art management options for patients with glomerular disease such as vasculitis, lupus nephritis, primary glomerular disease, to name a few. Outstanding renal pathology services are run by our in-house renowned renal pathologists, providing rapid turn around for renal biopsy reports. A planned expansion of this clinic includes liaison with rheumatology to offer multidisciplinary services for patients with autoimmune disease.
