The sleep program is involved in a range of research pursuits that include translational, big-data, and industry-driven projects to understand burning questions in a number of sleep conditions that include sleep-disordered breathing, movement disorders and behavioral sleep conditions.
Current studies that are underway include
Sleep-related breathing disorders: The role of sleep disordered breathing, particularly intermittent hypoxemia on red cell oxidative stress is being studied at differing altitudes.
Study Primary Investigator (PI): Krishna Sundar, M.D.
PLMS research: This looks at the role of periodic limb movements in contributing to sleep fragmentation and impact on sleep quality and cardiovascular indices.
Study PI- Sasikanth Gorantla M.D.
SCENT study: Monitoring of disease induced VOCs; specifically looking at obstructive sleep apnea.
Study PI – Nicholas Kenyon M.D.
