CSP Policies and Procedures
Academic Warning & Probation – both are deficiencies
- Academic Warning & Probation
- Academic warning and probation are imposed at the time the deficiency is received.
- Academic Warning - not reported to state licensing boards
- All preclinical Y marks
- First incidence of:
- USMLE Step exam failure (with each Step treated separately)
- Y mark received in the clinical years
- 1st professionalism deficiency brought to the attention of CSP
NOTE: Not following School policy is a professionalism deficiency
- Academic Probation - reported to state licensing boards, when asked.1
- 2nd, and all subsequent incidences, of
- USMLE Step exam failure (each Step treated separately)
- Y mark received in the clinical years
- F Grade
- Egregious unprofessional behavior or 2nd professionalism deficiency brought to the attention of CSP
- Student fails to follow the directions of the Committee on Student Promotions
- 2nd, and all subsequent incidences, of
- Restriction of Extracurricular Activities
- All students on academic warning or probation must meet with and receive permission from the Assoc. Dean of Student Affairs prior to continuing or participating in medical and/or professional extracurricular activities while on warning or probation.
- Removal from Academic Warning or Probation
- CSP removes a student from academic warning or probation when
- USMLE Step exam passed
- There is a successful remediation of a Y mark or F grade
- Professionalism deficiencies deemed successfully remediated
- CSP removes a student from academic warning or probation when
