Dr. Muro uses a strengths-based and recovery oriented cognitive behavioral approach and encourages autonomy and empowerment for the clients and families she works with. Dr. Muro's work in psychosis and trauma utilizes a coordinated specialty care model with the use of evidenced based practices. Most importantly, Dr. Muro focuses on a cultural humility approach when working with clients and families from various diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Muro is a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized training in early psychosis care and trauma treatment. Dr. Muro is a fluent Spanish speaking psychologist who provides bilingual services to Latinx clients and families. Dr. Muro provides Spanish consultation/supervision and develops appropriate assessment and treatment protocols for delivering Spanish services. Dr. Muro is a clinical supervisor at the UCD Early Psychosis Programs and supports the training of pre-doctoral Trauma and Adolescent Mental Illness (TAMI) interns. Dr. Muro participates in community outreach workshops to enhance psychosis screening in the community and psychoeducation about psychosis.
Dr. Muro's teaching and research interests include Latinx cultural and linguistic considerations, improving mental health and psychosis literacy among youth and families, and enhancement of consultation/supervision/training for delivering Spanish language services. Dr. Muro's teaching and training efforts focuses on teaching providers how to implement early psychosis care interventions, utilize gold-standard assessments for psychosis, and support measurement-based treatment care in community health clinics.
