Philosophy of Care

Dr. Brooks strives to know her patients as people and not as diagnoses. She is a fierce patient advocate and fights to the best of her ability for and alongside her patients. Dr. Brooks truly tries to listen to each patient to understand their perspective and concerns and address them. She strives to empower her patients through education about their diagnosis and understand all treatment options. She uses her expertise to personalize treatment and care delivery in a way individualized for each patient affected by the disease.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Rebecca Brooks is an expert in the comprehensive medical and surgical care of women with uterine, ovarian, cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancers and gestational trophoblastic disease.

She has special interests in the radical pelvic surgery and upper abdominal debulking for advanced cancer as well as robotic surgery. She also has experience with administration of heated intra-abdominal chemotherapy (HIPEC).

Dr. Brooks is highly skilled in systemic therapy for gynecologic malignancies including standard chemotherapy to the use of novel biologic agents. She is committed to maximizing health and quality of life for cancer survivors and those affected by the disease.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Brooks' academic focus is an education of gynecologic oncology trainees. She completed a fellowship in medical education at the University of Chicago and functions as a fellowship program director and board examiner.

Dr. Brooks' research interests include mechanisms that affect the likelihood of metastases in endometrial cancer, various clinical topics related to gynecologic oncology, and education research such as mentorship and support mechanisms for trainees and junior faculty. She is also active in clinical trials.
