Philosophy of Care
Dr. Suo entered the fields of family medicine and psychiatry with the idea that people should be evaluated and treated based on their whole person: mind, spirit, and body.
She practices cultural humility, evidence-based care, and tries to be aware of unconscious/implicit bias in the care of patients. Most of her patient care involves teaching of medical students and/or residents, so learners are often involved in the care of her patients.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Suo is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Psychiatry and works clinically and teaches medical students, residents, and primary care providers in the fields of medicine and psychiatry, cultural medicine, and women's career development.
She is the training director for the UCD Family Medicine-Psychiatry residency program, co-director of the UC Irvine/UC Davis Train New Trainers Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship, and co-chair for the Department of Psychiatry's Society for Women in Academic Psychiatry. She also is the UC Davis Women in Medicine and Health Sciences Mentee for 2017-18.
Research/Academic Interests
Dr. Suo is active in the clinical and classroom instruction of medical students and residents at UC Davis, as well as teaching and mentoring primary care providers seeking additional training in psychiatry.
She publishes and presents on topics including personality disorders, health care policy, cultural psychiatry, and career development. She is the current Training Director for the Family Medicine/Psychiatry residency program at UC Davis.
