Musculoskeletal Radiology
Thank you for looking for more information about our subspecialty at UC Davis Health. Our team, from our clerical staff to technologists to physicians, all have a goal to make you feel better.
Musculoskeletal radiology consists of medical imaging of the bones, joints, and soft tissues of the extremities and pelvis. As radiologists, we work as a team with other physicians and physician extenders, including members of orthopedics, rehabilitation medicine, oncology, and primary care. Our involvement begins the moment a clinician orders an imaging study. From there we work to ensure that the right study is being performed based upon your symptoms. For most individuals, this will start with radiography. Radiographs are a very good starting point to evaluate potential traumatic injuries, arthritis, and orthopedic hardware. Depending upon what this exam shows, your treatment may be based solely on radiography, or further imaging may be needed, such as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), or ultrasound.
After your exam has been performed, it is our group of musculoskeletal radiologists providing accurate interpretations of your imaging exam. From the wrist radiography performed for pain after a fall to the knee MRI for evaluating for a ligament tear, we are behind the scenes doing our best to provide our expert opinion and assist your referring clinician. At UC Davis, our emphasis is on providing high quality of care. We look forward to the opportunity to take care of you.
