Everyone is an athlete -- Sports Medicine is not limited to professional, elite, team based athlete but encompasses everyone who wishes an active lifestyle of any age and interest. My job is to listen, be a support to all who wish to be physically active and to work with them to overcome injuries and limitations.
Dr. Tanji is a Sports Medicine specialist seeing patients at the UCDMG Davis Specialty Office. His practice is limited to referrals only.
Before retirement, my academic interests were in delineating the role of exercise to control high blood pressure and treating young athletes with concussion. At this stage of my career, I am involved in writing policy to keep athletes safe from sexual violence and to work at a national level on writing policy to close health disparities in the field of sport and exercise medicine.
