REACH Ambassador Program
The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, Office of Community Outreach and Engagement and Office of Education, Training and Workforce Development welcomes student volunteers to support outreach and engagement efforts.
As a REACH Ambassador, you will be assisting with outreach efforts such as educating community members about cancer prevention and screening recommendations, and medical resources. If you are interested in public health, cancer education, networking, and community service, apply today!

- Currently enrolled UC Davis student in good academic standing with cumulative UC GPA of 3.00 or higher
- Attending the next academic year at UC Davis
- At least one year of experience at UC Davis by the start of the academic year of commitment
- Applications open during the Spring Quarter
- Accepted Ambassadors will begin their academic year term over the Summer
- We recognize that not all students stay in the Sacramento region over the summer, therefore any required activities June-August will be hybrid or virtual to accommodate
- Interest in public health, cancer education, networking, and community service
- Collaborating with campus staff, faculty, and fellow Ambassadors
- Demonstrating initiative and sharing ideas
- Embracing and employing program values (leadership, innovation, growth mindset, heart, and teamwork)
- Being part of a team dedicated to mutual respect, equity, service, and collaboration
- Working independently as well as in teams
- Participating in ongoing professional development opportunities with a dedication to continuous improvement
- Effective interpersonal communication — individuals who are bilingual or bicultural are especially encouraged to apply
- Ability to establish and maintain respectful working relationships with team members, professional staff, faculty, and campus leadership
- Commitment to affirm and contribute to a positive and supportive team culture
- Regular and reliable attendance to outreach events and team meetings
- Willingness to hear constructive feedback and be teachable

- Provide an academic or professional reference contact. Have your reference’s email handy for your application
- Support OCOE with two (2) activities or projects per quarter such as helping with translation and cultural adaptations of public health materials or tabling at community outreach events
- Participation in one (1) professional development or skills workshop per quarter
- Ability to provide an encouraging, supportive environment for community members
- Provide feedback to program staff
- Commit to at least three quarters of service (one full academic year) (~10 hours of service per quarter), from Summer through the end of the Spring quarter
- Dress and/or present in a professional and respectful manner as ambassadors of OCOE
- Personal and professional development
- Networking with leadership, faculty, staff and students
- Be part of a fun and exciting team!
- Gain critical leadership skills and experience towards success in job interviews and career advancement
- Confidence and self-awareness through mentorship and motivating peers
- Enhance communication and leadership skills
- This experience will position students to later apply for opportunities at the Cancer Center, such as working in researchers’ labs, or becoming affiliate scholars
- Earn a Reference/Letter of recommendation from the OCOE team
