With more than 500 industry partners in attendance, UC Davis Health’s Facilities Planning and Development (FP&D) division hosted its second annual industry day — Building Together — on Oct. 30, 2023.
Contractors, design professionals, engineers and more gathered at Hyatt Regency Sacramento to learn about upcoming business opportunities with UC Davis Health and meet some of the FP&D Team.
Upon arrival, attendees received a bag with Building Together branded goodies, including a notebook and pen, lanyard, carabiner, hand sanitizer and business card level and tape measure. After some time to mingle over breakfast, they took their seats for the main event.
FP&D Executive Director Jason Nietupski welcomed the crowd, providing context to Building Together and UC Davis Health’s capital program, the largest of its kind in the U.S. today at $7.5 Billion. Jason described the need for committed business partners, encouraging the attendees to meet with the FP&D team members in attendance and with each other.
UC Davis Health Chief Financial Officer Cheryl Sandro served as the keynote speaker. In her presentation “Who We Are and Where We’re Going,” she highlighted UC Davis Health as a whole, giving necessary context as to why our capital project and expansion is crucial to improving patient care.
Each attendee received a copy of FP&D’s updated pipeline of projects. One after another, leaders of the five FP&D delivery teams (Strategic Programs, Capital Projects, Capital Infrastructure, Special Projects and Real Estate Development and Management) delved into specific project opportunities up for bid. Matt Dulcich, FP&D’s Director of Facilities Planning wrapped up the discussion by highlighting UC Davis Health’s plans for the future.
Following the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to network in-person with FP&D directors and project managers, as well as our tabling vendors, which included: DRP, McCarthy, Rudolph and Sletten, MGAC, Jacobs, Vanir, Gilbane, Cambridge, Clark Construction, LPA, Whiting Turner and Heart.org.
For those who could not attend Industry Day, we welcome you to watch our Pipeline Presentation recording and view the slide deck. For those that did attend, we thank you and look forward to expanding our partnerships at next year’s Industry Day.
