Accepted Health Plans

UC Davis Health providers accept many major health plans. Several of the specific plans that we accept are shown in the lists below on this page. Information and links for CalPERS, Medicare, Covered California and Medi-Cal options follow at the bottom of the page.

Important note: Due to overwhelming demand, we currently are not accepting new adult patients for primary care. At this time, we may be accepting new pediatric patients for primary care. For more information, please call UC Davis Health’s Consumer Resource Center at 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284).

UC Davis Health specialty care for adults and children may be available when the need arises. Most specialists require a referral from a primary care physician or another specialist. Your ability to see a UC Davis Health specialist may be limited by your health plan, or by our current capacity to see new patients in that specialty. For referral process information, please call 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284).

How to Select a UC Davis Health Primary Care Doctor

When we are accepting new primary care patients, here’s how to select your personal UC Davis Health doctor:

  1. First, choose one of the many health insurance plans that we accept. Be sure your health insurance plan includes UC Davis Health or UC Davis Medical Group.
  2. Next, choose us as your medical group. (We may be listed as UC Davis Medical Group or as UC Davis Health in your materials).
  3. Then choose your preferred UC Davis Health doctor for you or your child, and contact their office to confirm. You can browse our primary care physicians and locations using our online directory, or call 800-2-UCDAVIS (1-800-282-3284) for assistance.

If your health insurance plan does include UC Davis Health or UC Davis Medical Group, but you’re part of another medical group, your plan may allow you to switch anytime.

If your plan doesn’t include UC Davis Health or UC Davis Medical Group, you may want to consider switching health plans during your open enrollment period.
