Philosophy of Care

I am honored to be able to support women throughout so many phases of their life.  It is truly humbling to be trusted to help women with such personal and vulnerable concerns.  I understand that a visit to the gynecologist may feel overwhelming and frightening, I aim to put my patients at ease and help them feel empowered to make decisions about their care and their bodies.  I believe in preventive care through healthy lifestyles, health screenings, vaccinations and education. 

Clinical Interests

Dr. Phelps is a general obstetrician gynecologist who treats women and girls through all phases of their lives.  She treats abnormal uterine bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pain, endometriosis, lichen sclerosus, recurrent vaginal infections, menopausal symptoms and more.  She supports women throughout their pregnancy and postpartum period as well as providing contraceptive options for women who do not desire pregnancy.  She has a special interest in complex cervical dysplasia and offers a monthly clinic focused solely on women with abnormal pap tests or HPV.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Phelps is particularly interested in HPV and its effects on the genital tract.  She is also the director of surgical curriculum for the UC Davis Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program.
