Dr. Chang believes in a patient-centered and multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare. He is committed to ensuring that his patients fully understand their health conditions and the available treatment options, while integrating evidence-based practices and working closely with other healthcare specialists to deliver the highest quality of care and outcomes.
Dr. Chang is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in advanced surgical neuromodulation techniques to help restore function and quality of life in patients with complex neurological conditions. His clinical interests encompass the treatment of peripheral nerve disorders, chronic refractory pain, movement disorders, and epilepsy.
As a surgeon-scientist, Dr. Chang leads a large-animal research laboratory at UC Davis that focuses on neuromodulation and device-based therapies to improve functional recovery after nervous system injury. The goal of his lab is to efficiently translate novel diagnostic and therapeutic interventions that will advance the care of patients with neural injuries.
