The UC Davis Vascular Anomalies Team and UC Davis Children’s Hospital is a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of physician specialists and related support providers who work together to provide the best individualized care for our young patients. Pediatric vascular anomalies represent a diverse and complex group of disorders affecting blood vessels, such as arteries, veins, lymphatic vessels or capillaries. One in every ten children is born with a vascular anomaly, and over half of these children will ultimately require treatment. The Pediatric Vascular Anomalies Conference, established in 2016, represents a multidisciplinary team of pediatric experts who meet monthly to discuss patients with these vascular lesions and determine the optimal management approach. Each unique patient case has the opportunity to be evaluated by specialists from many areas without the patient and family needing to travel to multiple clinics or wait for additional appointments. This allows our patients access to all the available expertise at one time. Once a child receives a diagnosis, we then can recommend treatment options and place referrals to the specialists who provide the treatments, getting each patient to the best provider efficiently. The team works together to efficiently coordinate and provide the best care plan for the child.

Our collaborative multidisciplinary team currently includes physicians from Pediatrics, Pediatric Dermatology, Pathology, Dermatopathology, Pediatric Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Pediatric Orthopedics, Orthopedic Oncology, Pediatric ENT, Pediatric Oncology, and Pediatric Surgery.  Another benefit of our UC Davis Vascular Anomalies Team is our commitment to excellence in patient care and teaching the next generation of medical students, residents, and fellows about vascular anomalies, their diagnosis, and treatment.
