The Fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at the University of California Davis Medical Center offers a comprehensive training program aimed at advancing laparoscopic surgical skills. Our program is designed to expand surgical and clinical skills through a variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures including bariatric surgery. The program offers the opportunity to work with a number of laparoscopic surgeons within the UC Davis system. Our clinical faculty consists of five surgeons who perform a range of minimally invasive cases including bariatric, foregut, hindgut, hernia, and solid organ minimally invasive operations.

In addition to the clinical programs, there are numerous opportunities to participate in research projects sponsored through the Department of Surgery. Fellows will be encouraged and assisted to submit projects to peer review journals and to specialty surgical conferences.

Our program is well-known for the collegial peer relationships among the residents and fellows within a supportive learning environment. We place high value on academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, human service, broad interests and professionalism.

The graduates of our fellowship program are well prepared to pursue careers in community surgical practices or academics and subspecialty surgery programs.

We welcome the opportunity to meet you. Please call the Minimally Invasive Surgery program office at 916-734-2386 if you have any questions about our program or application process.

Sincerely,
Mohamed R. Ali, M.D., F.A.C.S.
