Supporting Client Engagement

  • Many of our patients have complex trauma histories and come from marginalized communities. They may have experienced discrimination in trying to access mental health services and mistrust systems of care because of these negative experiences.
  • The goal of the TRC is to remove barriers and increase accessibility to services.
  • TRC provide the assertive outreach to support treatment engagement.
  • To sustain treatment engagement and improve life outcomes for these patients, continuity of care is an integral part of our treatment model.
  • The TRC leverages other programs within the CAARE Center and Wraparound program to provide longer term mental health treatment when needed.
  • Patients who need extended mental health treatment will not have to change therapist and start over.

Testimonials
  • Wraparound

“It felt like it was more like a – I had mentors guiding me all the time. You know, at the time, I was very young and immature, and still, you know, figuring life out. So, I feel like they [Wraparound VPPs] helped me a lot in maturing and my resources, how there is resources [to be accessed], and like that.”

“It’s been, having an individual [Wraparound VPP] to talk to rather than you know, calling it, calling the hospital. Half the time you get an automated, you get an automated line, or you get a receptionist who doesn’t know exactly who you are. Doesn’t know what you’re trying to get to. Having an individual that I can talk to who is an insider on the healthcare side can really help. It’s like having, when you’re in school, like a counselor or somebody who can help you with scheduling and help you organize, keep yourself on track academically. It’s like that. And I really appreciate that.”

“I say, for somebody who's, like, you know, mental health, I say, who's going through stuff or need people to talk to or need someone to help them advocate and stuff like that, I feel like this program is really helpful with that."

“The program helped me a lot, after my incident, it helped me in my trauma, how to heal, how to cope with it, how to not feel anxious. There's nothing that they couldn't help me with. When I had something, like, a need or a help with something, there was always something that they were able to do. Even if it was just a little bit, there was always something that they were able to help me with.”

  • CAARE Center

“UCD CAARE Center provides excellent services, excellent therapy staff as well. They offer evidenced-based practices provided in a model adherent manner. Services are highly effective, and staff are highly professional and helpful. Staff are open to input from parents.”

“The most helpful thing about services was that there was a lot of support, a lot of people called to check on my son and me. I’m not sure what would improve the CAARE Center, to me it is perfect”

“My therapist is the most helpful thing about services here. Everyone in the system is helpful, courteous, and highly understanding (and very available)."

My therapist has been very understanding if I have to reschedule. Her energy is so warm and welcoming. My daughter absolutely loves her."
