Community Volunteers
Community volunteers are not affiliated with UC Davis or UC Davis Health (staff, students, etc.) who, for one reason or another, would like to give of their time and volunteer at UC Davis Health. There are many opportunities for community volunteers across UC Davis Health.
A community volunteer for UC Davis Health participates in various activities to support the hospital and its associated programs, departments, and units. These volunteers often help in non-medical capacities to enhance patient experience, assist staff, and contribute to the overall functioning of the health system. A task can vary depending on the unit/department that you are assigned to. Some key roles and responsibilities might include:
- Patient/Clinical Support: volunteers provide companionship, assist clinical staff, deliver items and other amenities to patient rooms, and much more.
- Administrative Assistance: volunteers can help with clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, answering the doorbell, stocking department supplies, and other administrative tasks.
Volunteering at UC Davis Health allows individuals to give back to the hospital community, gain valuable experience in a healthcare setting, and support the mission of education, research, public service, and providing world-class care and service to patients. To volunteer at UC Davis Health, at least one 4-hour shift per week is committed for at least six months.

Inpatients Volunteer RegistrationVolunteering in an inpatient area provides a unique chance to have a significant impact. You will be assigned to one of our various patient care units, but not limited to Cardiology, Oncology, Neurosciences, ICU units, or Transplant, to name a few.

Non-inpatients Volunteer RegistrationVolunteers can contribute their time and provide invaluable support to patients and staff at UC Davis Health in numerous ways. Other opportunities include roles in radiology, bariatric surgery, guest relations, physical therapy, and many different areas.
