Pediatric Infusion Center

Doctor with patient
Andrew Rodriguez, 5, received a groundbreaking FDA-approved gene therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, becoming one of the first US children to undergo this treatment.

Infusion therapy is administered to infants, children and adolescents who require either a one-time or ongoing intravenous (IV) therapy for a variety of acute and chronic illnesses including cancer, blood or genetic disorders, gastrointestinal and endocrine disorders. Infusion center staff members also perform blood draws and manage centrally placed catheters.

Our Team

The outpatient infusion center is staffed by registered nurses, medical assistants, child life specialists and licensed clinical social workers. Many of the registered nurses carry nationally recognized certifications in pediatric oncology.

Our Environment

The spacious, open area creates an inviting setting in the pediatric infusion room. Keaton’s Korner provides an area for relaxation, movies, games and art therapy. Our family-centered care encourages adult caregivers to stay for treatment (only one adult at a time; siblings should stay home). An outdoor courtyard and lobby are available for family members. Vending machines are located on the first floor of the cancer center’s South Building.
