Understanding the impacts of cancer on the diverse population we serve is key to eliminating disparities and promoting equitable health care. The California Cancer Reporting and Epidemiologic Surveillance (CalCARES) program helps define the cancer burden facing Californians. The CalCARES team also partners with the California Department of Public Health to manage day-to-day operations of the California Cancer Registry, the statewide, population-based cancer surveillance system that collects information on almost all cancers diagnosed.
